Berwick grad awarded concert association scholarship
Olivia Gilbert, a Berwick High School graduate, was awarded the Marlene Hendrix Memorial Music Scholarship by the Community Concert Association of Morgan City during a recent board meeting. Olivia Gilbert, a 4.0 graduate of Berwick High School, is the winner of the Marlene Hendrix Memorial Music Scholarship presented by President Floyd Cloutier of the Community Concert Association of Morgan City at its board meeting.
Gilbert plans to major in piano performance and neuroscience at Tulane University.
Beginning at the age of 5, she studied piano and saxophone and has received the National Federation of Music “Superior” ratings for 12 consecutive years. The daughter of David and Anna Gilbert, she is a member of the Berwick “Sound of Pride” Marching and Symphonic Bands and a member of St. Mary Parish Talented Music/Theatre Programs. A member of selective Honor Bands across the state and nation, she also has been a state qualifier for 10 consecutive years in Torgrimson Swanzy, and placed first in 2010.
Named Berwick High School student of the year in 2013, Gilbert is an active member of Beta Club, Key Club, Foreign Language Club, Student Council, and Drama Club, as well as, being active in numerous organizations outside of school, and co-founder of Acts of Random Kindness in October 2013.
