Bayou Vista stop signs stolen within a week of going up

Deputies say two Bayou Vista stop signs were stolen roughly a week after they were installed.
The four-way stop at Southeast Boulevard and Delmar Avenue was approved by the St. Mary Parish Council in June and the signs were installed Aug. 8.
St. Mary Sheriff’s spokeswoman Traci Landry said the two on Delmar Avenue were taken some time during the night Saturday.
“They unbolted the signs from the posts,” Landry said.
Parish Road Supervisor Euliss Dumesnil said parish workers were notified Sunday and replaced the signs, valued at $50 each, Monday.
Landry asked anyone with information regarding the theft to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 985-384-1622 or 337-828-1960.
