Attempted murder suspect arrested
A 40-year-old Houma man wanted in connection with an October 2013 shooting in Morgan City that left two people wounded was arrested Tuesday night in Houma, Morgan City Police Spokesman Lt. James Blair said.
Barron F. Kenner, 40, of the 100 block of Shady Oaks Court in Houma, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s deputies on Morgan City police warrants for attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone.
Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department received information leading them to suspect that Kenner was in the Houma area, Blair said. Detectives traveled to Terrebonne Parish and with the assistance of Terrebonne Parish detectives were able to locate Kenner, Blair said.
The arrest warrant for Kenner stemmed from a shooting which was reported Oct. 21, 2013, shortly after 10 a.m. in the Federal Avenue and Orange Street area near Maitland Elementary.
In that incident, Donald Ray Brown Jr. and Eric Charles were wounded and eventually arrested.
Brown, 30, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was booked into parish jail Dec. 5 on warrants for attempted second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Charles, 23, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was booked into the parish jail Dec. 17 on warrants for attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone.
Kenner was being transported to the Morgan City Police Department this morning, Blair said.
