All propositions in St. Mary Parish pass

Voters approved a 20-year, $21 million bond issue to build a new Patterson Junior High School in Saturday's election. The vote will also add a multi-purpose building to Hattie Watts Elementary. Yes -- 734 votes -- 73.03%

No -- 271 -- 26.97% 

Fifth Ward Special School District No. 1, $21 million bonds for 20 years. There were 

5,945 voters eligible for the election on a 15-mill property tax to replace Patterson Junior High and add a multi-purpose building to Hattie Watts Elementary. Voters were residents from the Calumet Cut to Southwest Boulevard in Bayou Vista. 

 will be asked to vote on the tax to support $21 million in bonds to be paid over 20 years.

 

 

Yes -- 916 votes -- 76.59 %

No -- 280 votes -- 23.41%

Wax Lake East Drainage District – Proposition (Tax Renewal - 3.2 mill property tax for 10 years). The election includes Precincts 31, 32, parts of 33, 34 and 25 in Berwick and Bayou Vista. Some 10,735 were eligible to vote.

 

Yes -- 108 votes -- 65.85%

No -- 56 votes -- 34.15%

Gravity Sub-Drainage Dist. No. 1 of the Gravity Drainage Dist. No. 2 – Proposition (Tax Renewal - 9.95 mills property tax for 10 years). The election includes Precinct 31 in Bayou Vista. There were 2,145 registered voters eligible for the election.

 

Yes -- 18 votes -- 78.26%

No -- 5 votes -- 21.74%

Recreation District No. 1 – Proposition (Millage Renewal - 3 mill property tax for 10 years). The election includes parts of Precincts 46 and 47 in Siracusa and Amelia. There were  813 people are eligible to vote.

 

Alderman, Town of Baldwin – Special Election. There were 1,506 registered voters for the election.

Herbert Bell (D) 30 votes -- 6.52%

Mike J. Ceasar Sr. (D) 204 votes -- 44.35%

Clarence Colbert St. (D) 26 votes -- 5.65%

Margaret C. “Faye” Coleman (D) 200 votes -- 43.48%
