Local teams are ranked in Top 10

Three Tri-City area prep softball squads are ranked in the top 10 for their classifications, according to unofficial power rankings released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association before Tuesday’s action.

While Central Catholic holds the highest ranking among local squads with a No. 2 ranking in Class 1A, Class 3A had the most local representatives as Berwick (9.1343) and Patterson (8.5186) were are ranked Nos. 5 and 10, respectively. Berwick has a record of 9-5, while Patterson entered Tuesday’s contest with a 12-2 mark.

The squads were among four in District 9-3A ranked in the Class 3A top 10. Kaplan is ranked No. 3, while North Vermilion is No. 9.

Brusly is Class 3A’s top ranked squad with a power ranking of 10.9493 and an overall mark of 12-2.

Central Catholic has a power ranking of 9.79 and an overall mark of 11-2.

The power ranking is well behind top-ranked Cedar Creek who had a power ranking of 11.8858 and a win-loss record of 11-1.

In Class 4A, Morgan City is ranked 20th with a 6-7 mark and a power ranking of 6.1392.

Alexandria is Class 4A’s top ranked squad with a power ranking of 9.9942 and a 10-2 mark.
