Local Marine Corps League recognizes Baldwin officials

A frame of pictures of Mayor Wayne Breaux being presented with a U.S. flag that flew over Afghanistan was presented to the mayor and Board of Alderman by Gene Bosworth of the Marine Corps League during the Baldwin town meeting Thursday.

The mayor was presented with the flag in January as a token of appreciation for his participation in a project in which St. Mary Parish youth collected commodities to send 4,000 pounds of homemade cookies to troops during Operation Desert Storm.

Baldwin Police Chief Gerald Minor also received an award of appreciation for his years of dedication to the Red Ribbon Week campaign. The award was presented to Minor by Jackie Ackal, Diane Wiltz and Lena Henry.

Minor spoke about Red Ribbon Week that will be held Oct. 19-28 in St. Mary Parish and Mayor Breaux signed a proclamation supporting the week in the town.
