Lightning forces postponement of St. Mary Parish Track and Field Meet
Lightning forced the postponement of the remainder of the St. Mary Parish Track and Field Championships which opened Friday evening at the J. C. Dry Stadium on the Albert Perry Track.
Friday’s running of the meet was stopped during the boys 800 when lightning caused the first stoppage in action for 30 minutes, according to Franklin Coach Kenneth Lockett.
After a brief rain shower during the boys 1600 meters and the hurdles, lightning in the distance forced a 30-minute break in the action which led to the postponement.
Action will be completed with the boys 800 on Monday, April 9th at J. C. Dry Stadium.
