Junior Auxiliary of East St. Mary hosted a “Girls Matter” event at Berwick High School on Oct. 27. Girls from all local high schools were invited to attend. Activities included two guest speakers as well as a Zumba exercise class led by certified personal trainer and instructor Stacy Caldwell, front. Mary Louise Mayon, a registered dietician, spoke with the girls about the importance of a healthy, well-balanced diet and living an active lifestyle. Motivational speaker Julie Maryland (back row, second from left), a multisystemic therapy therapist, spoke with girls about self-esteem, body image, and treating others with dignity and respect. Junior Auxiliary will be hosting another “Girls Matter” event in February 2014.
