Lady Tigers shutout Beau Chene

By: Staff Reports
Morgan City’s soccer program had mixed results in two games last week.

The Lady Tigers lost 5-0 to Zachary but the game was closer than the score indicates.

“Not to take anything away from Zachary but this was not a five to zero team,” MCHS coach Trevor Patterson said. “All but one of the goals came with the inexperience and youth of our team. We provided errors and mistakes to let them score four of the goals, that shouldn’t have been.

“On the offense side we had chances but just couldn’t finish, we let the Broncos get the better of us. We can score and we have done that in previous games against a team like them, this just wasn’t our night.”

The Lady Tigers fared much better on Friday with a 4-0 win over Beau Chene.

Sarah Patterson led MCHS with two goals and Celeste Williams and Shannon Theriot each added a goal in a dominant performance with much of the game played on the Gators’ end of the field.

The boys had trouble with losses in both games.

“There were two uncalled for losses, one thing we are having trouble doing is scoring,” MCHS coach Jorge Hernandez said.

The first loss came against Zachary, 1-0, but the Tigers controlled possession for much of the game and struggled to convert on scoring opportunities.

Beau Chene gave MCHS trouble winning 4-0 with three of the goals coming on mistakes by the Tigers.

Both MCHS teams will face Erath tonight at Tiger Stadium.
