Lady Tigers rout 'Jills, 16-0, on Wed.

The Morgan City Lady Tigers pounded Patterson High School, 16-0, in Patterson in both teams’ regular season finale.

The Lady Tigers’ Tyler Hebert tossed a no-hitter and struck out five in the three-inning, non-district matchup.

Marilynn Bailey led the Lady Tigers with a 1-for-2 performance with a home run and two RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. Bailey’s home run was her second in as many days as she tied the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh inning on Tuesday against Assumption, a game the Lady Tigers later won, 3-2, in nine innings.

Other MCHS contributors included Nikki Pennison, 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI; Reina Fernandez, 1-for-2, a run and two RBI; Amber Bailey, 1-for-3, a run and a triple; Brandi Ingram, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; Shannon Theriot, 1-for-3, a run and two stolen bases; and Taylor Prince, two runs and an RBI.

With the win, MCHS improves to 18-12 overall.

The Lady Tigers will await their playoff seeding, while the ’Jills also are in contention for a playoff spot. The playoffs will be announced on Friday.

CCHS rebounds against

Ascension Catholic

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles responded from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Ascension Catholic, 13-9, in 10 innings on Wednesday on the road.

After surrendering five runs combined to Ascension Catholic in the first three innings, the Lady Eagles responded with a run in the fourth and four in the fifth to tie the game.

Ascension Catholic retook the lead, 6-5, with a single run in the bottom of the fifth before CCHS took a 7-6 lead in the top of the sixth.

ACHS tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Both team scored two runs in the eighth inning, and after a scoreless ninth, CCHS pushed across four runs in the top of the 10th for the victory.

“This was a great way to end our regular season,” CCHS coach Joe Russo said of his squad’s victory, which came a day after CCHS committed 10 errors in an 8-0 loss to Hanson in the District 8-1A championship game

CCHS’ Megan Landry went the distance for the Lady Eagles to improve her record to 13-9 overall. In 10 innings, she surrendered nine runs (eight earned) on 17 hits. She walked two and struck out 12.

Landry helped her cause at the plate with a triple, a home run, three RBI and three runs.

Other CCHS hitters included Kimberly Russo, four hits, three stolen bases and two runs; Caroline Byrne, three doubles, three RBI and three runs; Abbie Bergeron, two hits, including a double, a run, an RBI and a stolen base; Brittany Longman, a hit, an RBI and three runs; Celine Flores, a triple; Amanda Barron, a double and a run; Hailee Thomas, a double; and Olivia Crawford, a single.

With the win, the Lady Eagles finished its regular season with a 16-11 overall record.

The Lady Eagles now will await their playoff seeding.

Berwick falls to Lutcher

Berwick fell to Lutcher, 4-3, in the Lady Panthers’ home finale on Wednesday.

No individual statistics were available from Wednesday’s game.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 14-14 overall and will await their playoff seeding.
