Lady Panthers knock off North Vermilion, 4-3
BERWICK — The Berwick Lady Panthers handed North Vermilion its first District 9-3A loss of the season as they defeated their visitors from Vermilion Parish, 4-3, Thursday.
The Lady Panthers secured the win in the top of the seventh inning, as pitcher Shelby Bergeron forced a North Vermilion batter to pop up to shortstop Abigail Ohlin for the third out of the game, stranding the tying run at third base.
No other individual statistics were available.
The Lady Panthers (14-8 overall, 7-2 in district), who have won five straight, will return to action Tuesday when they host Kaplan in District 9-3A play at 4 p.m.
Morgan City defeats
Tyler Hebert tossed a three-hitter and struck out 10 and Celest Williams homered as Morgan City routed South Terrebonne, 11-1, in District 8-4A play
In the win, Hebert also surrendered a run and a walk, while Williams finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs.
Other top contributors included Katelyn Adams, 2-for-4, two RBIs and three runs; Aliya Green, 2-for-4, two RBIs and two runs; Dwanna LeBeau 2-for-4, two RBIs and a run; and Morgan Comeaux, 1-for-4, two RBIs.
Morgan City (13-11 overall, 4-2 in district) will return to District 8-4A action Tuesday when it hosts Vandebilt Catholic at 4 p.m.
Patterson falls to Kaplan
Kaplan scored a run in the sixth and seven more in the seventh in an 8-0 victory against Patterson in District 9-3A action in Patterson Thursday.
Grace Beadle and Madi Morris had the Lumberjills’ lone two hits in the contest.
Taylor Hall took the loss for Patterson.
The Lumberjills (15-9 overall, 3-6 in district) will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Fisher for a nondistrict contest. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
