Lady Jills edge Lady Hornets in OT

Claudia Fine and Trina Williams scored in double figures, leading the Patterson Lady Jills to a 43-40 overtime District 9-3A win over the Franklin Lady Hornets Tuesday at the FSHS Gym.

Patterson’s Lady Jills went on an 8-5 run during the extra period, breaking the 35-35 deadlock at the end of regulation. Patterson raced outfront by a 12-7 first quarter lead before the Lady Hornets enjoyed a 9-4 flurry, knotting the game at 16-16 at the half. The Lady Hornets used a narrow 10-9 edge to cling to a 26-25 third quarter cushion. In the final period, Patterson benefited from a 10-9 run of its own to force the game into overtime tied at 35-35. During the extra period, the Lady Jills pulled out a 43-40 overtime win.

Fine finished with a game-high 15 points while Williams contributed 11 more.

Dalyn Jones led Franklin with 13 points on one trey, four deuces and 2 of 7 free throws. J’Ashayla Bowers poured in 10 points, baggging one trey, one deuce and 5 of 8 freebies. Other top scorers for Franklin were: Karson Grogan, 9; Fabian Small, 5; Anjhae Jolivett, 2 and T’Kiyah Harrison, 1.

Franklin will play host to the Berwick Lady Panthers on Friday in league play.
