Juvenile busted after pot found in Bible at parish jail
A 15-year-old female was arrested at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office after deputies at the parish jail found marijuana inside a Bible at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
The juvenile female, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 5:01 p.m. Thursday at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City for distribution of marijuana and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives were contacted to assist in an investigation at the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. Deputies at the jail received a Bible that contained marijuana hidden within it. Using surveillance video, detectives identified the subject who delivered the book as the juvenile female. She was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:
—Jamie Jet Faulk, 29, of Rice Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:42 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for harassment. A deputy located Faulk at the parish courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. She was released on a summons to appear in court on May 21.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrest:
—Anthony James, 27, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:52 a.m. Thursday, for possession of marijuana, distribution of cocaine.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at James’ residence on Egle Street. Investigators conducted undercover operations resulting in several purchases of illegal narcotics being made from James, the report stated. During the search, they located several pieces of suspected crack cocaine as well as cigar containing suspected marijuana. Detectives also located $1,249 in cash that contained police marked monies. James was taken to jail and later released after posting a bail of $25,742.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
