John “JP” Parker Jr., 68, a resident of Patterson and a native of Bayou Sale, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 20, at Little Zion Baptist of Verdunville, from 9 A.M. until funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Nazarene Cemetery.

JP leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gertrude Tillman Parker of Franklin; his mother, Tempie K. Parker of Verdunville; four sons, John Hernandez Parker of Patterson, Lynnis R. Parker of Verdunville, Chadwick Gunner of Houston, Texas and Ronald K. Gunner of Lafayette; five stepsons, Brian Collins of Nashville, Tennessee, Ben Collins of Youngsville, Darrell Collins of Montgomery, Alabama, Arnole Collins of New Orleans and Leonard Collins of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Stephanie Joseph of Patterson and Tonya Gunner of Verdunville; one stepdaughter, Wanda Griffin of Franklin; three brothers, Charles D. Parker of Centerville, Adolph Parker Sr. of Gibson and Timothy Parker of Franklin; two sisters, Rev. Rosie M. Austin and Mary L. Stansbury, both of Centerville; eight grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; 25 step great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
