Job fair planned in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. — Dozens of Acadiana’s top employers will be on hand to screen potential job candidates at the LEDA Job Fair on Wednesday, May 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.
Now in its 18th year, the LEDA Job Fair is the largest job recruitment event in Acadiana. In 2012, 110 companies from all sectors of business and industry participated in the event and similar numbers are expected this year. Since its inception, hundreds of Acadiana’s top employers have successfully recruited job candidates at the one-day event.
The E-Application Station, sponsored by the Louisiana Workforce Commission Business and Career Solutions Center, will be available allowing job seekers to apply for positions available at participating companies, in addition to searching and applying for thousands of additional jobs in the region and throughout the state.
Danielle Dayries, a career consultant, returns to the LEDA Job Fair with her series of job seeker seminars: 9:30 a.m., how to ace an interview; 10:30 a.m., following up after the job fair; and 11:30 a.m., résumé writing. A fourth seminar has been added this year at 1:30 p.m., how to successfully use Linked In in your job search. The seminars are held in the job fair exhibit hall. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seminar seating is limited.
The LEDA Job Fair is free to job seekers and there is no pre-registration. Job seekers should dress professionally and bring copies of their résumés. The list of participating employers is updated online daily. Visit www.lafayette.org/jobfair for the latest job fair developments.
