'Jills fall; MCHS excels at tourney
Patterson High School fell to Thibodaux 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-19) in volleyball action Monday.
Caitlyn Fontenot led the ’Jills with five points, two aces, four digs and six kills, while Kailyn Johnson added two points, three aces, eight digs and four kills. Other statistical leaders for the ’Jills were Carissa Fontenot, two points, an ace, four digs and nine assists; Rachel Easley, seven points, one ace, four digs and one kill; and Rebecca Taylor, two points, five digs and two kills.
MCHS excels at HLB Tourney
Morgan City recorded a 2-1 finish Saturday at the H.L. Bourgeois Tournament.
The Lady Tigers defeated Ellender (25-16, 25-22) and Slidell (25-18, 25-23) but fell to Belle Chasse (25-16, 25-14).
Against Ellender, Katelyn Adams recorded 10 assists, two aces and four digs, while Jaiveianna Jones contributed an ace, four kills and two digs.
In the win against Slidell, Kloé Liner recorded an assist and a block assist as well as six kills and nine digs, while Jones added an assist, two block assists, two digs and 11 kills. Other MCHS contributors included Adams, 12 assists, a block assist, two kills and four digs; Savannah Loupe, an ace and nine digs; and Elizabeth Esteban, nine digs.
In the loss to Belle Chasse, Adams was tops with seven digs, three kills and 11 assists, while Jones added two digs and five kills and Loupe, seven digs.
The Lady Tigers will return home today where they will face Delcambre. Action will begin with freshmen play at 4 p.m. followed by junior varsity and varsity.
