James Shields, a native of Sorrell and a resident of Port Arthur, Texas, died Tuesday in Port Arthur, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include his two daughters, Patricia Smith of New Iberia and Sheila Shields of Palm Bay, Fla.; one son, Kenneth Shields of Bossier City; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Viola Rhine of Jeanerette and Margie Mitchell of Port Arthur, Texas; two brothers, Millie Shields of Port Arthur and Edward Shields of Houston; three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, a dear and devoted niece, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Jeanerette with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Sorrell Community Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home in Port Arthur and Jones Funeral Home of Jeanerette.
