COVINGTON — The Patterson High School golf team won a one-hole playoff to qualify for regional competition Tuesday at Tchefuncta Country Club.

While the team tied St. Charles for fourth place with a team total of 396, Patterson’s Bryce Beaubouef won a one-hole playoff against a St. Charles golfer to qualify the Lumberjacks for the final of four spots among teams at regional competition.

Beaubouef turned in an 85 on the day to lead the Lumberjacks, while Bobby Abshire and Kenny Singleton each fired a 102 and Trey Olwell carded a 107.

“I was proud of the guys for fighting through the day,” Patterson coach Ryan Taylor said. “Conditions were tough with some rain in the morning, and then it got hot as the day went on.”

Newman’s Price Butcher had the lowest score during district as he shot a 72, while Newman won the team title with a 345.

Patterson will compete in regionals Tuesday morning at Santa Maria Golf Club in Baton Rouge.

Beaubouef is seeded 19th, Singleton is 42nd, Abshire is 43rd, and Trey Olwell is 45th.
