Iota prepares for cotillion/beautillion

Iota Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority assembled recently at South Louisiana Community College in Franklin.

The meeting officially began for the 2012 Debutante Cotillion/Beautillion event. Co-chairs for the cotillion are sorors Monica Harding of Franklin, Constance Hulbert of Morgan City, and Carolyn Jack of Jeanerette.

Three prospective debutantes attended the meet and greet. They were Angle’ Patterson of Napoleonville, Peggy Thomas of Jeanerette, and Kiera Bashay of Houston. The young women introduced themselves and their parents or guardians.

The program began with an invocation, introduction of sorority members and an ice-breaker. Returning former debutante Tremaine Jack Louis of Gulfport, Miss., shared how her experience inspired her to attend college and become a registered nurse.

To gain an insight into the culminating event of the cotillion process, the group viewed a DVD of cotillion 2011.

Sorority members present were Juanita Lagard and Hulbert of Morgan City, Georgia Manual of New Iberia, and Jack, and Chapter Basileus Lucy Watson of Franklin.
