Iota Eta plans Jan. 14 cotillion/beautillion
Iota Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority held its annual Cotillion/Beautillion Tea recently at South Louisiana Community College in Franklin.
The tea precedes the 23rd Annual Cotillion/Beautillion being held Jan. 14 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
During the tea, participants were judged on responses to questions on current issues relating to teenage life.
Kiera Bashay of Houston, T’lajahawaun Thibodeaux of Lafayette, and Peggy Ann Thomas of Jeanerette were present. After the interviews and introductions, the young women formed a receiving line along with parents and guardians/sponsors.
Judges for the occasion were Andranaye Harding, Pamela Randle and Cherise Collins-Roman.
Guests were treated to refreshments following the round of activities.
Two weeks earlier the group hosted its Annual Fashion and Talent Show for debutantes at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. Styles were featured in sporty/casual, business/dress, and formal attire. During this activity, the audience was entertained with talent numbers consisting of a saxophone solo, a dramatic reading and a liturgical dance.
Sorority members present for the affairs were Diana Alexander, Constance Hulbert, Carolyn Jack, Georgia Manuel, Georgia Benjamin, Monica Harding, Juanita Lagard, Doris Robert and Lucy Watson Basileus.
Members of the sorority reside between New Iberia and the Houma/Thibodaux area.
