A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, 100 East Milton Avenue, in Milton, for Howard Adam Verret Sr., 88, who passed away on January 21, 2013 at 7:05 p.m., at Lafayette General Medical Center. Born in Websterville, Louisiana to Fernest and Edna E. Verret, he lived in Jeanerette and Erath before taking up residence in Milton.

The Reverend Aaron Melancon, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

He graduated from high school in Franklin in 1943 and spent time in the Army during WWII, and then served in the Air Force Reserve. He was employed as a maintenance engineer until his retirement in 1989 and then was self-employed as a Locksmith until his death. He met and married Gladys Mabel Danforth in Beaumont, Texas in 1954 and they shared 58 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Howard Verret Jr. of Toledo, Ohio and Ricky L. Verret of Milton; two daughters, Pamela V. Weill of Eugene, Oregon and Delsa V. Wolf of Milton; three grandchildren, Maija E. Wolf, Michelle Tyson and Michael Verret; and five great grandchildren, Samantha Tyson, Melody Tyson, Adam Tyson, Christopher Tyson and Kaitlyn Tyson. He is also survived by two sisters, Marion V. Derouen of Houma and Mary Ellen Prudhomme of Charenton; and two brothers, Ulysses Verret of Jeanerette and Fernand Verret of Jeanerette.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wilson Verret and Walter Verret.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice (behind St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Cemetery) Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. A Rosary will be recited Friday at 6:30 p.m.
