Hornets’ Saturday intrasquad scrimmage open to public

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Hornets will host an open scrimmage on Saturday, Dec. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at the New Orleans Arena featuring the entire team and coaching staff. The event is free and open to the public and will give fans the opportunity to be the first to see the 2011-12 Hornets practice. The first 1,000 fans will receive a voucher at the door that will allow them to get players’ autographs after the scrimmage.

In addition to watching the team practice, select fans will have the opportunity to participate in on-court contests featuring Hornets players, as well as get an inside look at a Hornets practice as Head Coach Monty Williams will be mic’d for the scrimmage.

Free parking will be available in Lots 3 & 3A. No tickets are necessary to enter, but all fans are encouraged to enter the arena through the Northeast entrance, just to the left of the Hornets’ Nest team store. Season Ticket Holders will also have the opportunity to print coupons online for free hot dogs, popcorn and soda for the event.

Fans will have the chance to win free Hornets tickets, as well as autographed items through several raffles and contests. There will be appearances, autographs and pictures with Hugo and the Honeybees, as well as a post-scrimmage Q&A session hosted by Rob Nice.

The Hornets home preseason game is Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. against the Memphis Grizzlies. After opening the regular season on the road on Monday, Dec. 26 at Phoenix, the Hornets will return to the Hive for their home opener on Wednesday, Dec. 28 against the Boston Celtics.
