Saints Junior Training Camp comes to Holy Cross

The New Orleans Saints Junior Training Camp, presented by Whitney Bank, came to Holy Cross Elementary in Morgan City Thursday. The Saints representatives joined students and educators to teach athletic skills while giving valuable life lessons in an effort to help the young students stay physically fit and develop into leaders during their formative years. Assisting with the camp were local Whitney Bank representatives Jeff Blum and Dean Listi along with several Holy Cross dads. The training camp visits schools throughout the Gulf Coast, giving second- through eighth-grade boys and girls firsthand interaction with members of the Saints organization. The students attend fitness clinics and receive motivational lessons involving education, goal setting, teamwork and more. The training camps run through football season and into the spring at pre-chosen area schools. Schools that participate in the program are pre-selected in conjunction with the New Orleans Saints. Service projects at Holy Cross Elementary

Each month throughout the school year, students at Holy Cross Elementary School are engaged in service projects in response to Jesus’ command, “Feed My Lambs.” Each grade has chosen an outreach project that will benefit the community or other worthy organizations. During November, the Pre-K3 class and its teachers sponsored a food drive for the needy families in the area. Sugar, flour, canned goods, boxed foods, and personal hygiene items have been collected throughout the school to aid Holy Cross Parish’s Thanksgiving baskets for the needy. The items collected ensure that the church will be ready to respond to those in need during the upcoming holidays. With bags of items collected are Pre-K3 students Carter Wiggins, Addison Duhon, Joseph Berry, Alexzander Dinger, Elizabeth Patterson, and Nate Morice with Pre-K3 teachers Kristi Crouch and Sherrel Landry..
