Morgan City

Morgan City lighting ceremony, 6 p.m. Thursday at the Spirit of Morgan City shrimp boat on Brashear Avenue featuring singing, candy and a visit from Santa Claus.


Berwick lighting ceremony, 6 p.m. Thursday under the U.S. 90 bridge near Town Hall. Santa is scheduled to arrive on a special sleigh at 6 p.m. He will be available to hear the Christmas wishes of local children, and refreshments will be served.


Patterson lighting ceremony, 5 p.m. Sunday. The Christmas tree will be lit in the parking lot at City Hall. Bethel Pentecostal will provide music with more than 75 singers.

—Kemper Williams Park Christmas lighting runs Sunday through Dec. 30, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily, weather permitting. Cost is $2 per car or $10 per bus.

—Patterson community Christmas parade, 2 p.m. Dec. 9. Begins at Place Norman Shopping Center to Patterson High School. Followed by a free Christmas festival with games, food and prizes at school, weather permitting. No fee to enter parade. Call 985-395-4422. Only Christmas music allowed.


Franklin Christmas Parade, 6 p.m. Nov. 29 on Main Street.

St. Mary Parish

Toys for Tots: Don’t forget to donate new and unwrapped toys. Deadline for applications to receive toys is Dec. 12.

West of Calumet bridge, apply at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce office. East of Calumet Bridge, apply at St. Mary Outreach. Distribution date is Dec. 15, 8 a.m. to noon. Distribution in Franklin is at the Chamber of Commerce, 600 Main St., and in Morgan City at VFW Post 4222, 1504 Sandra St.
