Hit and run crash leaves 1 dead
ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. -- Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal hit and run crash Saturday morning on La. 3177 south of Interstate 10 which claimed the life of a Breaux Bridge man.
According to investigating troopers, shortly after 4:30 a.m., Aubrey Talley Jr., 59, of Breaux Bridge, was lying in the middle of La. 3177. An unknown northbound vehicle struck Talley and left the scene. After an unknown amount of time passed, Talley was struck by a 2001 Toyota truck driven by 34-year-old Adam Trinco of Breaux Bridge. Troopers are still trying to determine when Talley sustained the fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Martin Parish coroner. Trinco was restrained and was not injured in the crash.
Troopers do suspect Talley was impaired and routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
Anyone with any information about this crash is urged to call Troop I at 337-262-5880.
Last year, 62% of the fatal crashes investigated by Troop I involved some form of impairment. While results are still pending in this crash, Troopers remind drivers and pedestrians about the dangers of drinking. Even after having just one drink, decision making abilities are hindered.
