Berwick, MCHS to meet Friday

Berwick defeats Central Lafourche

Berwick High School defeated Central Lafourche in Berwick Tuesday 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20). Berwick (1-1) will continue its regular season action Thursday when it opens play in Assumption’s tournament. Berwick High School won its home opener Tuesday with a 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20) victory against Central Lafourche.

Central Catholic High School 1965 football team was Class B runner-up

The 1965 Central Catholic High School football team finished its regular season 11-0 and fell in the Class B State Championship game to Arcadia 50 years ago this fall. While the squad tied Arcadia 7-7, they lost due to Arcadia having more first downs. Team members include, bottom row, Donald Estave, George Beaugh Jr., Robert Breaux, Greg Aucoin, Paul Michel, Ray Campo, Rodney Hayes, Andre Dragna, Bernard Levy, Billy Thompson and Merlie Fuselier. On the middle row are Butch Gautreaux, David Arcemont, Nolan Chasson Jr., Louis Arnette, Joey Hepler, Buzzy Joy, Joey Streva, James Oschwald, Dexter Leonard, Robert Dimiceli and Ronnie Baker. CCHS falls to Vandebilt in 3 games

Central Catholic High School fell at home to Vandebilt Catholic 3-0 (25-8, 25-12 and 25-12). Vandebilt Catholic eased past the Central Catholic Lady Eagles in three games Monday in both teams’ season opener in Morgan City.
Vandebilt Catholic won 25-8, 25-12, 25-12.
