Eagles take on Blue Gators May 6

The Central Catholic Eagles will take on the Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs Wednesday. The sixth-seed Eagles will have home field advantage against the 11th-seed Blue Gators when the game starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Amelia Recreation Center. There will be no surprises in Wednesday’s second-round playoff game when Central Catholic hosts District 7-1A foe Ascension Episcopal.

Lady Eagles celebrate state title!

Winning pitcher Megan Landry, center, of the Central Catholic High School Lady Eagles shows her excitement Saturday evening after striking out the last batter to clinch the Class 1A state championship. The Lady Eagles defeated defending state champs Cedar Creek 6-4 at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Championship Tournament in Sulphur. They defeated Ascension Catholic on Friday and Catholic High-Pointe Coupee earlier Saturday, both close games ended with a score of 1-0. Landry had complete games in each of the contests. University Lab jumped on Patterson with six runs in the first inning en route to a 10-0 win in the first-round of the Class 3A state playoff Friday in Baton Rouge.

Two ‘Jacks to play college football

Malik Garrett, an offensive lineman at Patterson High School, signed Friday to attend Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, on a football scholarship.
