Patterson falls at Westgate tourney

The Patterson Lumberjills fell 58-16 to New Iberia at Westgate’s tournament Wednesday.
Gaylen Grogan led the Lumberjills with 6 points and 10 rebounds, while Nyla Holder had 3 points.
Other top contributors included Nakia Brooks, Erykah Singleton and Makayla Ruiz, each with 2 points; and Nia Broussard, 1 point.
The Lumberjills will return to action in the tournament Saturday at 10 a.m. agaist Westgate.
Also in Westgate’s tournament, Central Catholic’s girls will begin play today at 5:15 p.m. against Comeaux.
Elsewhere, Berwick’s boys will open play today in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche against Centerville at 8 p.m.
While the Panthers were supposed to play Houma Christian, the tournament was made into a round-robin after one of its participants withdrew.
In Houma, Morgan City will meet Terrebonne at 8 p.m. today at Terrebonne’s tournament.
