Hanson Tigers nip VCHS Eagles, 57-55
ABBEVILLE _ Royce Norton tossed in 20 points while Bo Barrilleaux fired in 13 to lead the Hanson Memorial Tigers to a 57-55 victory over the Vermilion Catholic Eagles in District 7-1A action here Monday at the VCHS Gym.
Hanson (10-9, 3-3) enjoyed a 19-8 run in the fourth period to capture the come-from-behind 57-55 win.
VCHS earned a 13-10 first quarter lead before the HMS Tigers stormed back for a 26-25 halftime lead. Vermilion Catholic went on a 22-12 run in the third quarter en route to a 47-38 advantage. Hanson heated up in the final period, going on a 19-8 flurry, earning the 57-55 comeback victory.
Norton led the HMS Tigers with 20 points on nine field goals and 2 of 3 free throws. Barrilleaux made good on a trio of treys along with a pair of deuces for his 13 points.
Rounding out the scoring for the Tigers were: Brennan Young, 8; Jacob Stewart, 6; Clint Young Jr., 4; Micah Baker, 4 and Kameron Clements, 2.
The Hanson Memorial Tigers are scheduled to play host to ESA tonight at 5 p.m.
