Franklin Hornets win over Jeanerette
Winning pitcher Brent Ina allowed only four hits while leading the Franklin Senior High School Hornets to a 14-4 victory over the Jeanerette Tigers Thursday in an abbreviated contest at the FSHS Baseball Diamond.
Ina went all five innings, surrendering four hits over five innings with three strikeouts and six walks.
Leading hitters for Franklin were: Austin Hale, 3 for 3, 2 doubles, and 2 runs; Brent Ina, 3 for 4, 2 runs; Allen Randle Jr., 2 for 3, double, 3 runs; Devon Wiggins, 1 for 1, run; Lamar Joseph, run; Caesar Latore, run; LaDarious Davis, single, 2 runs; Mark Davis, single, 2 runs.
Franklin will play host to Berwick in the District 9-3A opener beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Hornets played a pair of games this past weekend in the Northside Tournament.
Franklin came up on the short end of a 4-1 loss to Northside in first game.
Allen Randle Jr., was the losing pitcher in a game that only lasted three innings due to time.
Austin Hale scored the only run of the game for the Hornets.
In the second outing, Northwest edged past Franklin by a final score of 2-1.
Bernard Mitchell Jr. took the mound loss in a game that lasted only four frames due to time.
Allen Randle Jr. scored the only run for the Hornets after reaching base on a single. Bernard Mitchell and Austin Hale had one hit each for Franklin. Hale also recorded the sole RBI.
