Erath edges West St. Mary

BALDWIN _ The Erath Bobcats managed to hold off the West St. Mary Wolfpack by a 22-20 margin in District 6-3A action Friday at Wolfpack Stadium.
With the loss the Wolfpack slipped to 3-6 and 0-4 on the season.
Erath (3-6, 2-2) opened the scoring on a 9-yard run by Ty Bares before Elijah Mitchell made good on the two point conversion.
West St. Mary cut Erath’s lead to one point at 8-7 on a 9-yard run by Torrance Ballard and a kick from placement by Jovan Anderson.
In the second quarter, Erath extended its lead to 22-7 when Bares hit paydirt from one-yard out before Kulian Romero booted the extra point and Alex Toups caught a 4-yard pass from Ben LeBlanc.
West St. Mary’s Thaddeus Gabriel scored on touchdown runs of 16 and 10 yards while Anderson tacked on the extra point as the Wolfpack drew within two points of Erath at 22-20.
Down the stretch, Erath gained the narrow two-point win at 22-20.
West St. Mary (3-6, 0-4) will close out the regular season on the road at the Abbeville Wildcats (0-9, 0-4).
