CHS Bulldogs top Maurepas
CENTERVILLE _ Jumanji Washington tossed in a game-high 11 points, sending the Centerville Bulldogs to a 55-27 triumph over Maurepas High School here Friday at the CHS Gym.
Centerville (10-5) led from the opening tip, building a 16-8 lead in the initial period. At the half, the CHS Bulldogs doubled up Maurepas by a 34-17 margin. Centerville continued with the hot hand during the third quarter, enjoying a 14-5 run for a one-sided 48-22 cushion. Centerville salted away the easy victory with a 7-5 run in the final period on the way to the 55-27 victory.
Washington pumped in his 14 points on 6 2’s and 2-of-5 freebies. Juwan Thomas finished with eight points on a pair of treys and one deuce. Rodney Harris also tossed in eight points, bagging a trio of deuces along with 2 of 3 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Courtland Pogue, 7; Zacchaeus Jackson, 5; Cole Candella, 5; Marvin Strawder, 4 and Dontre Austin, 4.
Wesky Younger paced Maurepas with 11 points.
On last Friday, the Cen-terville Bulldogs jumped out to a 43-6 halftime lead and never looked back in defeating Grand Isle 63-21 at Grand Isle Friday night.
Coach Randy Bergeron notched his 300th career win at Centerville.
Centerville jumped outfront by a 25-6 lead in the opening quarter before securing the 43-6 halftime advantage en route to the lop-sided 63-21 rout of Grand Isle.
Rodney Harris fired in a game-high 23 points while finishing with a double-double effort. Harris collected 23 points on nine field goals and 5 of 8 free throws and 12 rounds on the night.
Jumanji Washington added 10 points on five deuces while Rodrick Harris poured in eight points while also yanking down nine rebounds. Courtland Pogue finished with seven points along with four boards and four assists with Juwan Thomas recording six points and four assists.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were Dontre Austin, 4; Christian Arias, 3 and Cole Candella, 2.
