CCHS hoops reminder
Fans who will be attending Thursday night’s contests between Central Catholic and Tensas need to be aware of certain procedures that will need to be followed as per Louisiana High School Athletic Association rules.
Central Catholic Athletic Director and boys basketball Coach Ree Case said as per LHSAA rules, after the girls’ contest between Tensas and Central Catholic, the CCHS gym will be cleared and fans, even if they paid for the girls’ game, will be readmitted for the boys’ contest for which they will have to pay a separate fee for.
Fans attending the girls Class 1A quarterfinal game, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., will be charged $8, while after the gym is cleared following the game, fans will be readmitted for $7 for the boys’ game, a Class 1A bi-district game.
“It’s two totally different games that just happen to be played on the same night in the same gym,” Case said.
The boys’ game even will feature a different set of officials than the girls’ contest.
Case said that Central Catholic didn’t want to make Tensas High School and its fans make the trip, which depending on the route from north Louisiana, can take more than four hours, twice in two days.
“I didn’t think that was fair to them, and it’s just going to make it a little (exciting),” Case, who has never been in this situation before, said.
