Catholic High nips Centerville

CENTERVILLE _ The Catholic High of New Iberia Panthers squeezed past the Centerville Bulldogs 39-38 here Thursday at the CHS Gym.
Catholic High built a 9-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before holding a 21-18 advantage at intermission. Centerville pulled even with Catholic High at 31-31 following a 13-10 flurry in the third quarter. Down the stretch, Catholic High benefited from a narrow 8-7 run for the 39-38 win.
Catholic High’s Brown led all scorers with 25 points.
Jumanji Washington led the Bulldogs with 20 points on four deuces, three treys and 1 of 2 free throws. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Rodney Harris, 8; Courtland Pogue, 6; Dontre Austin, 2 and Cole Candella, 2.
Centerville hosts Franklin on Tuesday.
