BHS, MCHS swim teams to compete at state meet today

Berwick and Morgan City each will send an individual qualifier as well as relay teams to the LHSAA/State Farm Swimming State meet that begins today.
Berwick will send senior Joshua Miller in the individual events, while Morgan City senior Trevor Vaughn will represent the Tigers.
Preliminaries in all events will be held today in the two schools’ classification, Division 3, in Sulphur, while the finals will be held Thursday.
Miller will compete in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle, while he also is a member of the Panthers’ 200 and 400 freestyle.
Miller is seeded fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. His time of 23.4 seconds is less than 0.5 seconds behind the second seed.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Miller is seeded 10th with a time of 55.29 seconds.
Vaughn is seeded 17th in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:07.15, while he is the 22nd seed in the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 2:18.46.
He also is listed on the Tigers’ heat sheet for the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Tigers also will send their 400-yard freestyle relay, seeded 12th; its 200-yard medley relay, 15th; and their 200-yard freestyle relay, 16th.
The Panthers will send their 400-yard freestyle relay, 11th; their 200-yard medley relay, 16th; and their 200-yard freestyle relay, 18th.
The Lady Panthers will send their 400-yard freestyle relay and their 200-yard freestyle relay, both seeded 12th.

Other Morgan City swimmers include Dylon Mayon (400 freestyle relay) and Hunter Gaspard, Ethan Aucoin and Carter Arcemont, who all will be competing in the 400 freestyle relay, 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
