Berwick upsets Brusly 3-2

Berwick High School upset Brusly High School on the road Saturday. The Lady Panthers got a complete game effort from Sydney Jambois, who allowed just five hits in the contest. Above Jambois pitches during action earlier this month in the Lady Panther Classic. Berwick will return to action Tuesday when it travels to Houma to face Vandebilt Catholic. The Berwick Lady Panthers scored an upset win Saturday at Brusly with a 3-2 win.
Berwick took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, while Brusly responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Berwick plated what proved to the winning runs in the top of the fourth.
Berwick entered the game ranked No. 24 in Class 3A in the latest unofficial power rankings released earlier in the week, while Brusly was No. 6.
Sydney Jambois earned the win for the Lady Panthers. In seven innings, she surrendered two runs on five hits with one walk and fanned one.
Reagan Bowers led the Lady Panthers with a 2-for-3 performance with a run, while Maddie Gray finished 1-for-2 with an RBI. Other top contributors included Maria Trevino, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; and Shannon Theriot, 1-for-4, an RBI.
Berwick (10-16) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Vandebilt Catholic in a 3:30 p.m. contest in Houma.
Patterson’s contests
rained out
The Patterson Lumberjills’ contests against Pearl River and Centerville Saturday in Centerville’s Round Robin were rained out and will not be made up.
The Lumberjills (10-4) will return to action today when it travels to face St. Martinville in a 4 p.m. contest.
