ACHS edges Berwick, 3-2

The Berwick Lady Panthers were on the short end of a 3-2 decision with Ascension Catholic Tuesday in its home opener.
The Lady Panthers were plagued on defense by six errors in the contest.
While Ascension Catholic took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the score remained the same until Berwick scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit in half.
The Lady Bulldogs responded with a run in the top of the sixth, and while Berwick plated one run in the bottom of the seventh, its rally fell short.
Shelby Bergeron suffered the loss for the Lady Panthers as she pitched a complete game, surrendered three runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
At the plate, Shannon Theriot finished 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base, while Jordan Lipari was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Today’s game against Assumption has been rained out and has been tentatively rescheduled for Thursday in Berwick at 3:30 p.m.
Morgan City
defeats Thibodaux
The Morgan City Lady Tigers pounded out 15 hits as they defeated Thibodaux 8-2 in the Lady Tigers’ season opener in Thibodaux Tuesday.
While the game was scoreless for the first two innings, Morgan City struck for a run in the third and three more in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
Thibodaux countered with a run in the bottom of the fourth and but Morgan City came back with a run in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Thibodaux managed a run in its final at bat.
Brandi Ingram led the Lady Tigers offensively with a 3-for-5 performance with a double, three RBIs and a run, while Marilyn Bailey finished 2-for-5 with a double, a triple and a run. Other top contributors included Tyler Hebert, 2-for-5, a double and an RBI; Aliya Green, 1-for-5, an RBI and a run; and Morgan Comeaux and Katelyn Alvarez, each 2-for-5 with Alvarez adding a double.
Hebert earned the win as she tossed a complete game with 13 strikeouts. She surrendered two earned runs on four hits with three walks and hit two batters.
Morgan City is scheduled to return to action Thursday when it travels to face H.L. Bourgeois in varsity and junior varsity action beginning at 4 p.m.
Patterson beats
Central Lafourche
The Patterson Lumberjills started their season off on the right foot with a 10-6 victory at Central Lafourche Tuesday.
Taylor Hall earned the win with 10 strikeouts, while Nia Broussard finished 1-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Lumberjills at the plate.
Other top contributors included Hailey Sehon, 2-for-3, two RBIs, and Gaylen Grogan, 1-for-3, an RBI and two runs scored.
Patterson will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Ellender in a 4 p.m. contest. Junior varsity will follow.
CCHS rained out
Central Catholic’s season opener Tuesday at Ellender was rained out.
The Lady Eagles now will begin their season Thursday at home against Terrebonne in a 4 p.m. contest.
