We made mistakes that need to be corrected, but I was proud of the guys for taking every shot Franklin threw at them and answering.

The Patterson Lumberjacks finished District 9-3A action Friday with a 64-55 win against Franklin.
The Lumberjacks took a 21-18 lead after the first quarter and led 36-33 at halftime and 47-42 after three quarters.
With the win, the Lumberjacks finished as District 9-3A co-champs with Donaldsonville as both finished 7-1 in district.
The Lumberjacks (19-4) won a coin toss to enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed.
“That was one of our goals,” Patterson coach Ryan Taylor said of a district championship. “This makes the (fourth) district title in a row. The guys really wanted to continue that streak, and I am extremely proud of them for responding after losing the first game of the district season to Donaldsonville.”
Taylor said he wasn’t surprised how hard Franklin played in Friday’s contest.
“They played with a lot of energy,” Taylor said. “We made mistakes that need to be corrected, but I was proud of the guys for taking every shot Franklin threw at them and answering.”
Jedrick Gunner and Nehemiah Augustus each had 20 points for Patterson, while Larry Turner added 12. Other top contributors included Dontrell Benjamin and Daylon Charlot with five points each.
“Now it is on to the playoffs and begin the new season,” Taylor said. “We are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
Patterson will find out its playoff seeding today when brackets are released. The Lumberjacks will host a first-round contest.

The Berwick Panthers closed out their season with a 62-31 loss to E.D. White in Thibodaux Friday.
No individual statistics were available from the contest.
The Panthers finished the season 7-19 overall and 0-8 in district play.
