BASILE - In a battle of Class 1A powers, it was Hanson that took a 24-19 win over the Basile Bearcats. Basile falls to 3-2 with their opening league next week. They will host Hamilton Christian. Hanson moves to 4-1 on the year.

Basile struck first blood with a one-yard run from Kevin Hardy in the second quarter. Hanson returned the favor with three straight scores on the legs of Kole Fluke and Beau Ancona.

Down 18-6, the Cats regained the lead with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth frame. Trenton Pelloquin threw a 20-yard strike to Kendrick Ceaser for one score and he hit Kaleb Bergeaux on a 25-yard pass play for another six points.

Basile’s rally would be short lived. A 62-yard run from Collin Broussard put another six points on the board for the Hanson Memorial team.

With little time left of the board, the Cats were not able to come back and fell short in the end.

Hardy led all rushers with 67 yards on the ground and Pelloquin was good for 69 yards in the air.
