Hanson High class top grads are Lancon, Zirlott and Simoneaux
Three top graduates will lead the Hanson Memorial High School Class of 2012 at commencement ceremonies Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Assumption.
They are valedictorians Alex Kirby Lancon and Kadie Zirlott and salutatorian Macy Elizabeth Simoneaux.
Alex Lancon is the son of Brad and Jamie Lancon, and has a grade point average of 4.0. He plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in environmental engineering.
Alex has received a TOPS scholarship as well as scholarships from the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, AARP, St. Mary Chamber of Commerce and the Knights of Columbus.
His awards and organization participations include student body president, Quiz Bowl captain, campus ministry, Rotary Club, Big Brother program, choir, Pro-Life member, National Society of High School Scholars member, ACSAA Leadership award, Principal’s Leadership award, DAR Citizen of the Year, National Honor Society, District Rally winner, State Rally winner and LHSSA All-Academic Composite Team.
He was also class president, Hugh O’Brian Camp participant, Liturgical Reader, and lettered in football, basketball, track and cross-country.
Kadie Zirlott has a grade point average of 4.0. She is the daughter of Michael and Heather Zirlot and plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in biology/pre-med for anesthesiology.
She is a recipient of the TOPS scholarship and her awards and clubs include National Honor Society, class officer, Touch Academic award, Pro-Life member and Quiz Bowl.
Kadie has participated in Trail Blazer Camp, and was a winner in district and state Rally.
Macy Simoneaux has a grade point average of 3.9464. She is the daughter of Michael and Monica Simoneaux, and plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in kinesiology with a concentration in physical therapy.
She has received scholarships from the Rotary Club, Conrad and Marcel Shlumberger, TOPS, the LSU Academic Scholar’s Resident award and the Tulane Distinguished Scholar scholarship.
Her awards and clubs include Academic All Star Team, U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete award, ACT College Readiness award, student council and National Honor Society.
Macy has participated in softball and cross-country teams.
