Grace Napoli, 97, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at her home.
Grace was born on Feb. 9, 1914, in Morgan City, the daughter of Gasper and Mary Costanza Napoli.
Grace was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was also a lay minister. She was a member of the Good Samaritans, Lady Star of the Sea, St. Mary AARP, and was also the oldest charter member of the Community Concert Association. She was involved with the Lakewood Hospital (Teche Regional Medical Center) Auxiliary for over 35 years.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews, Vincent Leone and wife Dolores of Houston, Grace Simon, Jasper “J.T.” Leone of Beaumont, Texas, Mary Napoli Stockstill and husband John of Evans, Ga., Kathryn Napoli Martin and husband Jerry of New Iberia, Julie Napoli Catanzaro and husband John of New Iberia, Sam T. Napoli Jr. of Baton Rouge, and Leisa Napoli Quinlan and husband William of New Iberia. She is also survived by 17 great-nieces and great-nephews as well as 11 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gasper Napoli and Mary Costanza Napoli; two brothers, Sam Napoli and Jasper Napoli; and two sisters, Angelina N. Leone and Mary N. Amadeo.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of mass at the church on Thursday with a rosary being recited at 10 a.m. Grace will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
