FSHS Hornets place second in NISH’s 7-on-7 tournament

NEW IBERIA _ Franklin Senior High School earned a second place finish in the New Iberia Senior High School Second Annual 7-on-7 Tournament here Thursday at the NISH Field.

Franklin recorded a 3-1 tournament record on Thursday, posting wins over St. Thomas More, New Iberia Senior High and Loreauville while suffering a narrow loss to eventual champion Breaux Bridge.

Over the last weekend, Franklin Senior High School finished in third place in the 7-on-7 Tournament at Northwestern State University.

Franklin went 3-2 in the Northwestern State University Tournament, garnering victories over teams from Texas and Mississippi while dropping twice falling to LaGrange High School in both pool play and the semi-finals.

According to FSHS Head Coach J. Ina, the Hornets are competing at a high level which should give them a shot at a good season.

Franklin Senior High has scheduled a pair of 7-on-7 drills with the Hanson Memorial Tigers in July.

Franklin and Hanson will do battle on Tuesday, July 10 at 5:30 p.m. at McCloskey Field before the squads square off on Thursday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. at J. C. Dry Stadium.

Franklin will also host Catholic High of New Iberia on Saturday, July 14 in a 7-on-7 competition.
