The Patterson Lumberjacks got their first win of the season with an emphatic 41-20 victory against Vandebilt Friday. The win also was the initial one for first-year Patterson head coach Chad Blanchard. In the win, Tristen Ausama and Mykel Jones put up big numbers to lead Patterson’s offense.

Actor Kevin Rankin, originally from Morgan City, will portray a clergyman in Fox’s 10-Part murder mystery, “Gracepoint,” premiering Thursday. Rankin, 38, is the son of Tom and Pam Rankin, of Morgan City.

Power line repair on U.S. 90

A 13-minute power outage affecting 650 customers in the Bayou Vista area Thursday was caused when contract tree trimmers made contact with a power line, Robbyn Cooper, Cleco spokeswoman, said. The tree trimmers were working along U.S. 90 in Berwick near Cypress Lake RV Resort around 11:48 a.m. when the incident occurred, she said. The tree trimming was part of Cleco’s routine maintenance, Cooper said.
