The city of Patterson will host four Christmas events this weekend. Friday at 7 p.m. — Judging of Main St. Christmas Lights Saturday at 6 p.m. — PEDSCO Annual Boat Parade Sunday at 12 noon — Annual 4-Legged Friends Parade Sunday at 2 p.m. — Annual Christmas Parade
KATC-TV reports Deputy Jason Hagen died after a shooting while off-duty. The 24-year-old corrections officer at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center had been with the department since February of last year.

Cuts make Stuff the Bus more ‘beneficial than ever’

Members of the Patterson community held a Stuff the Bus school supplies drive Saturday in the parking lot of Family Dollar in Patterson. Saturday’s Stuff the Bus in Patterson marked the fifth year of the drive. This year’s drive had a special importance.

Campers are Brittany’s Project Special Friends

Brittany’s Project Special Friends Camp was held July 15-18 at Franklin Senior High School, with 26 campers turning out with help from community volunteers. The camp, designed for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, hosted crafts, activities and much more fun. Visitors included the sheriff’s department; Toney Wade and his Canine Friend Gus with Animal Investigations and Search & Rescue; Mitch the Magician; and the Franklin Police Department. A water fun day was held Friday at the former Oaklawn Sugar Mill property with a water slide, pizza and a visit from the Franklin Fire Department who created a water spray for the campers.
