In response to a letter demanding the removal of prayer in public school-sponsored events, hundreds of community members and students held a candlelight prayer vigil at Morgan City High School Sunday night.

School leaders said today that St. Mary Parish school system policy affords students the opportunity to pray.

$1.25M budgeted for Bayou Chene flood work

The St. Mary Levee District board introduced its proposed $3.46 million 2015 budget Thursday, which includes $1.25 million to go toward the Bayou Chene Flood Protection project.
