The gifts were made possible through an ongoing partnership with the Church of the Assumption in Franklin. The sheriff’s office collects names, addresses and wish lists of inmates’ children.

Community Concert Association board meets

The Community Concert Association of Morgan City booked artists for the 2015-16 season Sept. 30. Area representative Cherie Lawson of Live on Stage assisted the group with information and video clips. The CCA board selected from the full roster of 39 available artists in voting on next season’s series. Five quality concerts, plus the possibility of a sixth for young people, are planned for next season. A variety of genres, Pop and Country, Classical, World Fest, Roots, R&B, Jazz and Main Street, an eclectic group of artists, provide options for all types of audiences. Previously, several board members attended the Live on Stage conference in Nashville this summer, in order to preview the offerings. Members voiced great satisfaction with the first concert of the current season, Steve Lippia and his 10-piece orchestra, Simply Sinatra. The many new sign-ups at the door are being tallied, and numbers will be given at the next meeting. Board members attending included, not in order, Cherie Lawson, area representative from Live on Stage; Suzanne Wiltz; John Beck; Linda Cooke, secretary; Linda Grant-Dupuy; Floyd Cloutier, president; Terri DiMatteo, treasurer; Doylene Porter, first vice-president; Geri Bourgeois; Harry Porter, second vice-president; Susan Tregle; George Ramirez; and Juanita LaGard.
