A group of community members hopes to bring a day care facility for senior citizens to Morgan City before the end of 2018.

In January, St. Mary Parish students in various related programs converge on Franklin High School to demonstrate their learning and their achievements. Last weekend's event was the latest in a long tradition of that showcase.

An episode of “NCIS: New Orleans,” that was partly filmed in Morgan City will air at 9 p.m. Tuesday on CBS. Levee project nears key phase

Work to raise levees in Morgan City from Lake End Park to Justa Street may begin before the end of the year. Included in that stretch is a levee section that goes by the Cajun Coast visitors center. The levee work is part of an $18 million project to certify Morgan City’s levees for flood insurance purposes and avoid potentially huge rate increases. (The Daily Re-view/Zachary Fitzgerald)

St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Walter Shepherd appeared before the St. Mary Parish Council on Wednesday to request a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 21- 30 as Red Ribbon Drug-Free Week.
