The sound of children’s laughter filled the air during the Family Fun Day hosted by the Patterson Police Department Saturday behind Hattie Watts Elementary. Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle estimated the crowd at about 1,000 people.
Sheriff’s investigators are seeking two suspects in an alleged home invasion in the Charenton area. At about 11:30 a.m. Friday deputies responded to a residential burglary in the 7000 block area of La. 87 in Charenton.

Jones steers legislation to obtain stoplight in Berwick

Fire in Bayou Vista

Bayou Vista firefighters called in a report of a fire today around 9 a.m. at 621 Charlie’s Lane in Bayou Vista. The firefighters saw the smoke while people there were working under a trailer in preparation to move it off the property, according to Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Battalion Chief Josh Ashley. Damage was contained to the exterior and bottom of the trailer, he said. No injuries were reported.
