The sudden death of Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch in late January 2014 was the top local news story of 2014, as chosen by the editorial staff of The Daily Review. Crouch was found dead in a hotel room at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Jan. 31, 2014, with what the local coroner ruled a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
