The St. Mary Parish Council meeting on Wednesday was a showcase of new faces as a candidate for an interim appointment to the council was sworn in and a candidate for a place on the Franklin Foundation Hospital Board of Commissioners introduced herself to the council and made her case for her candidacy.

Parade to send off the team

The City of Franklin is sponsoring a sendoff parade today at 5:30 p.m. for the Team Louisiana 10-year-old Franklin All-Stars members who are heading to the World Series. It begins on Main Street at Jackson Street and proceeds to Wilson Street, ending at the pavilion on Teche Drive. They are asking everyone in the community to wear their purple Franklin Strong T-shirts to the parade. There will also be a raffle and winners will be pulled immediately after the parade. Also, the Dixie Youth World Series in Laurel, Miss. will be broadcast on FM 105.9 and AM 1390.
